Clancy Ward is a specialised medical unit that has a 16 bed capacity. The casemix of Clancy ward is varied but exciting. We care for children requiring hospitalisation for the following conditions
- Liver and Gastroenterological conditions including liver transplantation
- Renal disease and renal transplantation
- Oncology
- Haematology
- Endocrine and
- Rheumatology
Clancy is a busy ward that offers many opportunities to learn about a wide range of diseases and conditions. With the varying age and casemix of patients, nurses' paediatric skills are thoroughly utilised. Clancy ward has built up a great team of staff, who nurse our patients with great skill, dedication and compassion. We strive to maintain a working environment that is pleasant and supportive for all staff. Education and professional development is a high priority.

Rostering practice
Self rostering is encouraged on Clancy ward and guidelines are available. Shifts are flexible and where possible, every effort is made to accommodate individual staff needs.
Education assistance
Orientation:
All new staff will participate in hospital orientation. As well as this an extensive ward orientation and package will be provided to every new staff member.
Preceptorship:
All new staff will have a preceptor that they will work with for a given period of time.

Nursing staff are encouraged and supported where possible to attend professional courses/ conferences and study days relevant to practice.
Social activities
Clancy Ward regularly holds ward night out's to encourage camaraderie among staff. We vary these nights out in an aim to accommodate all staff. We have a Christmas party each year. We also take part in fundraising nights in order to raise money for the unit.
