Hall Ward - Acute Declared Adolescent Mental Health Unit
Hall Ward is an 8 bed, Acute Declared Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit situated on the 1st floor of the main building. The mission of Hall Ward is to provide quality, evidence-based mental health care to the client. To ensure optimal treatment, a range of treatment modalities are utilised, including early intervention, psycho-education, individual, family and group work, pharmacological therapy and relapse prevention.
The Hall Ward Mental Health team works collaboratively to effectively provide the delivery of expert, comprehensive mental health care to children and adolescents between the ages of 6 - 16 years with mental health disorders. Disorders treated include early psychosis, mood disorders, anxiety and associated behavioural disturbance.
Hall Ward is co-managed by the Nursing Unit Manager and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. The multi-disciplinary team consists of nursing staff with mental health and paediatric experience, medical staff, clinical psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist and diversional/music therapist. Additional support includes a pharmacist and physiotherapist. A designated classroom with teaching staff also operates during NSW Department of Education school terms.
The nursing staff team work as a committed and cohesive group. They are friendly and supportive and work to meet the needs of the young person with a mental illness.
Rostering Practice
Rotating shift rostering practices are offered on Hall Ward. Most nursing staff work 12 hours shifts.
