We employ around 700 full-time equivalent nurses in a range of specialties. Through our Nursing Support Unit, Nursing Council, RN Council and Open Nurse Forum, our Nursing Division provides a platform of support and leadership for all nurses.
We pride ourselves on the support and education we extend to our nursing staff. Our extensive orientation includes mandatory programs (such as Child Protection Training, CPR and Fire) and programs tailored to your needs and interests (like preceptors and ward-based specialist skills programs).
Here our nurse educators plan and provide paediatric specific training. Nursing education forms part of our Education Centre (comprising conference, lecturing and library facilities). We support this further by having clinical nurse educators available in all wards.
Other education and career development opportunities exist by way of secondments, project positions and skills fairs. There are also opportunities to attend external developmental courses such as at the College of Nursing (many of which are supported by the NSW Department of Health).
We offer a variety of work patterns and rostering arrangements to best suit your needs. There are full-time, part-time and casual opportunities. Shifts vary from 6 to 12 hours and starting times are staggered depending on the ward and the need. Most wards have self-rostering practices. We also offer short-term contracts, particularly over the winter period.
